Since a couple of years a small B.C. company on scenic Vancouver Island formerly Salt Spring Island is specialized in producing Total Winter Covers for Sailboats and Powerboats from 20 ft to 120 ft in length.

Chris Lohmann the owner operator and a master Sailmaker by profession came from Europe in 1995 after he sold his successful Boat cover production specialized in transport covers and mooring covers for racing boats ( Dragon , Star , 11m one design, Etchell , H Boat  etc)

Since there was no market for these boats in the Pacific North West he searched and found a new niche market   where he could  implement new innovative ideas to better existing  designs of winter covers as there are :

1.       Different Fabric =    Nidema 600 plus is a specially made  for Lohmann (Sails &) Covers 600 denier solution dyed  Polyester fabric with PU ( Polyurethane) coating . It is more durable and softer  than Acrylics          

2.       Easy to handle= Being softer means better fit and easy storage , you only stuff it into the bag no need to fold. Installing  a Grand Banks 42 Cover will only take you 35 minutes after the 5th time and taking it down only 10 minutes.

3.       No sandbags or water bottles = Big weight saving . The cover is attached with for example 30 webbing straps and buckles on a Grand Banks 42 and the fabric runs down from the reling at least 5 feet and is tucked under the swim grid or the upright dinghy and then secured by a Drawstring which can be tightened at the front and at the back.

4.       Prices  = Lower than the ones of the competitors because we are specialized and have streamlined our production with the best equipment and material available.

5.       Specializing only in this Product = Most Cover makers ( upholsterer) don’t have the space and machines to handle for example a Grand  Banks 42 cover with app 170 square yards of material  and the Sail makers who have the space prefer sail making to canvas work.

     We are starting now  to implement new technologies as there are CAD (computer aided design ) and CAM  (computer aided manufacturing) .

6.       Superior after sales service : free make over after the 1st season and a 3 year limited warranty .

7.       Minimal  or no extra charges when the customer can't come to Vancouver Island for the measurement . In most cases the finished cover will be installed by us. Service and delivery from Portland OR. up till Prince Rupert BC.

8.       The production numbers tell the story about the success of this more or less new product.

       About 20% is exported into the USA and of this 30 % to the East coast
