FAQ All Season Covers
Q:
What means All Season Cover?
A:
It means you can use the cover in the winter, spring, summer and fall. But we
recommend in order to increase the long levity of the cover by 50% that
you don't use the cover during the month of Mai to end of September since the UV
rays are the worst enemy.
Since our covers are installed in app 40 min for a 40
foot boat, you can even use the cover in the Fall and
Spring beside it's main application being a Winter cover.
Q: Have you ever built a cover for
my Boat? If you haven't made
one before, how will you create a pattern?
A:
Every
Cover is custom made, that means if your boat is accessible here in the Pacific
Northwest (Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, B.C. ,
Seattle WA Areas) that I will measure and make a
pattern of your boat
Q:
How can you make a cover for my boat , I am from New
York?
A: I can only make a cover
for you, if I can measure a
sister ship (same Model perhaps same year build )here in my
area and I need some photos of your boat
to accommodate installations such as David's, GPS antenna, BBQ or Life
ring on your reeling etc.
Q: Can you describe the cover
construction details? I.E. use of zippers, Velcro, ties, snaps, reinforcement
patches, vents, access openings, length of cover around hull, etc.
A: 2.
The Cover will be 2 (< 40')or 3 parts
(> 40') zippered together at the Mast and
if 3 parts at the end of the boom , then there will be zippers or Velcro
cut outs around each shroud, forestay and backstays. The cover will hang over
the Stanchions app 5 feet or less if it already touches the water.
Depending on
the breath ability of the fabrics I need no or some venting for my covers, there
will be 4 screens sewn in the reeling area where the cover fabric can be removed
if needed. Every stanchion area has a vinyl patch and a tie down with buckle
snap and another tie down between each stanchion.

Q: What material would you be using for the cover and
what color options are available?
A:
The Fabric I am using is a solution dyed Polyester . I have always medium grey, charcoal and
darkblue in stock but there are also other colours available
Q: Do you accept credit
cards for payment?
A:
Yes I accept Credit Card payments through
www.PayPal.com
or over the Phone
Q: Why don't
you use
Sunbrella or alike acrylic Fabrics ?
A: Sure Sunbrella is the best marine fabric for
a lot of
other
applications , but I think for a Winter cover this very pricy
fabric is not very good in defeating the constant attack by heavy rains
and sometime snow, the chemical which results in the water repellency has to be
reapplied and further this fabric is not very good at abrasion which
happens quite often since we have severe winter storms.. The
fabric I use is a 600 denier (very strong thread) solution dyed Polyester with a Polyurethane coating on
the inside.. I try to get material where the coating is just right so that it
still can
breathe and at the same times sufficient waterproof.
Q: How is
the cover supported without using snow load frames?
A: Each Cover for a Sailboat can be used without any
additional support beside the boom and in the forward part there is a loop to
attach the Spinnaker halyard sewn in. Some powerboats don't need any additional
support and others need supporting Posts which I will supply.
Q: How is
the cover secured?
A: There are at least one strap with buckle at each stanchion and one in
between to secure the cover. To secure the rest of the cover there is a
Drawstring in the hem around the whole boat and some additional loops to run 1
or 2 lines underneath the boat if it is moored in very wind exposed areas.
Q: Why do
you not use Sandbags?
A: I think Sandbags are old fashioned and heavy and my unique
cover construction don't require sandbags. A 40' Trawler cover in Tofino
Vancouver Island has easily withstood 80 miles per hour winds.
Q: How do you vent the cover?
A: First of all I use a breathable Fabric which only
works when there is a difference in temperature to the outside, you might have
to use a heater on the inside.Second, I am not a fan of ventilation since if I
have openings in the cover moist air on a wet winter day can easily penetrate
the cover as well.
Q: How long does it take to install a
All Season Cover for a 40 foot Power boat ?
A: After some training (5 times) you will need with 2 persons less than 40
minutes.
Q: How long to take it down?
A: 10 minutes
